Job Summary:  

Performs advanced (senior-level) systems administration work. Work involves the design, management, reliable operation, and upkeep of the agency’s Information Technology infrastructure.  Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  This position reports to the Operations Manager.

 

Qualifications

 

·        Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or Graduation from a two-year Technical College with major coursework in systems administration is required. (Experience in systems administration, in excess of the required three years, may be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis.)

·        Three years systems administration experience is required.

·        Three years experience deploying, configuring, and supporting Microsoft Server technologies (Windows Server 2016 or more recent) is required.

·        Three years experience designing, configuring, and administering Active Directory Services is required.

·        Three years experience configuring and administering Group Policy is required.

·        Three years experience with data backup software, design and administration is required.

·        Three years experience with server virtualization infrastructure VMware vSphere version 7 or higher (design, administration, networking, and storage) is required.

·        Two years experience with Microsoft365 administration is required.

·        Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays and travel up to 10% for work-related purposes as required.

·        Three years experience with WAN and Ethernet LAN management (routing and switching) is preferred.

·        Two years experience configuring and supporting Domain Name Services is preferred.

·        Two years experience configuring and supporting DHCP configuration is preferred.

·        Two years experience with virtual meetings applications (Teams, Zoom, Webex) is preferred.

·        Two years experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is preferred.

·        Two years experience with Microsoft Azure is preferred.

·        Two years experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 or 2019 is preferred.

·        Two years experience with Linux server administration is preferred.

·        Two years experience with network firewall and/or network security appliance administration is preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·        Knowledge of systems administration; computer hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting; operating systems and applications; computer programming and architecture of scripting languages; and Internet security administration.

·        Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; coordinating solutions to problems; developing or revising system configurations; scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing system software; and troubleshooting computer systems.

·        Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues; to use network management, administration, and other system administration tools; and to analyze systems and procedures.

·        Ability to write and revise standard procedures.

·        Ability to coordinate the work of others.

·        Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

·        Ability to interpret and comply with the State Lottery Act, Lottery Rules, Bingo Enabling Act, Bingo Rules and Regulations. 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

·        Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

·        Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and manipulate equipment up to 25 pounds. 

Essential Job Functions:

·        Oversees and/or maintains the architecture and functionality of the systems environment, the implementation of technology solutions, the development of server upgrade plans and procedures, and the installation of operating systems.

·        Oversees and provides guidance in troubleshooting and solving complex problems related to system software and hardware incident and problem calls, and in the processing of service requests and tasks.

·        Oversees and/or defines and manages the roles and access privileges of individual users and devices to a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.

·        Oversees and/or develops operating procedures and documentation for technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and innovative systems administration techniques.

·        Oversees and/or trains staff prior to the implementation of systems and provides advice and guidance during the implementation process.

·        Oversees multiple projects occasionally, and/or some of the most complex systems administration projects.

·        Recommends to management systems technology solutions and enterprise-related hardware and software standards.

·        Assists with budget recommendations for operating systems, including the supporting hardware and software.

·        Assists in analyzing, defining, and documenting agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.

·        Maintains and manages agency server infrastructure (Physical and Virtual).

·        Maintains and manages data backups.

·        Assists in information systems security administration.

·        May coordinate or assign the work of others.

·        Performs related work as assigned.
