In Summary...

Mazzetti’s Lighting Design Studio is seeking a Lighting Designer who is excited to bring innovative lighting solutions to life, collaborate on creative projects, and make a lasting impact on both architectural and interior design environments. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of lighting design and be able to assist with lighting calculations, energy analysis, preparing project drawings and specifications, and creating renderings and presentation materials. This role involves coordinating with the Mazzetti team, supporting sustainability and LEED efforts, collaborating with other disciplines, and participating in limited contract administration during construction phases. The candidate will be responsible for managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and overseeing deliverables for themselves and the team.


Your Tasks Will Involve

  • Assisting with lighting design, including calculations and energy analysis
  • Preparing project lighting drawings and specifications
  • Creating renderings and presentation materials
  • Coordinating work within the Mazzetti team and with other disciplines
  • Supporting sustainability and LEED efforts across projects
  • Participating in limited contract administration during construction phases
  • Managing tasks, deadlines, and deliverables for yourself and the team
  • Contributing to a diverse range of projects, including healthcare, hospitality, civic, commercial, and residential designs
  • Implementing sustainable lighting design in all projects

Work Location

This is a hybrid position, ideally based in Los Angeles or Atlanta, though other U.S. locations will be considered. The role is full-time (remote or hybrid), with occasional invitations to in-person events for mentoring and social activities, depending on the candidate’s proximity to an office or event location.


Travel Requirements

This position requires travel of 5% or less.

Expertise And Abilities You Will Contribute

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the lighting design industry.
  • Passionate about innovative and creating lighting design.
  • Revit and CAD drafting/drawing production experience.
  • Photometric modeling experience using AGI32, LightStanza, and/or Dialux 
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized, self-starter and independent work ethic. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in Lighting Design, engineering specifically architectural or electrical engineering with lighting emphasis, interior design, or architecture with an emphasis or coursework in lighting, or combination of three additional years of relevant work experience, if less than bachelor’s degree.
  • Able to obtain or pursue a lighting design emerging professional student organization membership, IES or IALD for example but      not limited to these organizations.
  • Perform technical design tasks with varied software
  • Previous work experience in related field required, internships or relevant lighting research are a plus
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience 
  • Daylighting analysis Rhino-Grasshopper or Lightstanza
