About this Position
The Insurance 2 Underwriter will evaluate applications for individual life insurance on face amounts up to $500,000 and accept or decline the risk based upon analysis of medical history, prescription drug history, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest or other information pertinent to the decision. As a member of the underwriting team, you will work with a variety of internal partners to ensure prompt and efficient service to our clients, achieve departmental goals and service standards. You will participate in ongoing training to continue to develop your skills and knowledge with risk assessment, medical concepts and terminology, customer service and business systems and processes.This position is fully remote and open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.
The estimated salary range is $80K - $85K

Strong attention to detail to follow business processes correctly, anticipating and understanding the downstream impact and ensuring high quality the first time/every time

Once training is complete, the Underwriter will review documents such as applications, prescription drug profiles, laboratory reports, underwriting interviews and medical records to determine the level of risk presented and to make a final decision regarding eligibility for coverage.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of Life Insurance Underwriting experience is required
Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Biology, Psychology, or similar OR relevant work experience is a plus
Basic knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
Basic knowledge of anatomy and medical impairment is a plus
Working knowledge of the underwriting function
Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent PC and organizational skills
Ability to work proactively, independently, and under pressure
Excellent problem-solving skills
