About the Role

Plus Power is looking to hire a Legal Intern in their 2nd year of law school. They will become an integral part of the Legal team for the summer of 2024. As a Legal Intern, you will engage with diverse departments, make substantive contributions to our Legal Team's efforts, and gain valuable insights into our dynamic business and the world of battery storage. This opportunity will provide the successful candidate with a wide range of experiences with which to build on their career after graduation.


Position Overview 

The Legal Intern will be focused on a diverse range of legal matters and serve as a supporting resource in the negotiation and execution of a wide array of contracts that are integral to the successful development of the company’s projects. This role will have opportunities to support and collaborate with teams across Plus Power’s functional groups, including Development, EPC, Finance, Asset Management, and Transmission & Interconnection.

The ideal candidate is flexible to accommodate changing priorities, is comfortable working with different team members and will take ownership to finalize the tasks assigned. Interest in pursuing a career as an Attorney in the Renewable Energy Sector is preferred.


Responsibilities
 

  • Ensure contracts adhere to legal standards, including format and language
  • Gather crucial information for legal cases and projects, including examining precedents and regulations
  • Create concise documents summarizing legal issues and research findings
  • Thoroughly examine contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements
  • Actively participate in legal meetings, assisting with notetaking and preparation
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of legal information, including investigating parties’ backgrounds
  • Organize and maintain documents, support administrative tasks to streamline operations


Skills & Qualifications
 

  • Enrolled in an accredited US university Juris Doctor (JD) program; completion of 2nd year of law school preferred
  • Familiarity with contract law concepts
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication
  • Capable of multitasking and excelling both as an independent worker and a team contributor
  • A motivated self-starter with a goal-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Strong presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized with a high attention to detail
  • English fluency is required

Compensation, Location, and Benefits

Highly competitive total compensation from one of North America’s leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. Flexible, work from home or hybrid work from Plus Power’s offices in San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, and Palm Beach. 

The expected hourly range* for this position begins at $30/hour. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law.
