How You Will Contribute:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual to fill a key role within Ciena’s Supply Chain Inventory Management & Control team.   In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing inventory processes, ensuring accurate data-driven decision-making, and identifying opportunities to modify inventory business practices to develop best in class processes & strategies. The role has an important impact on Ciena’s cash investment and net margins and has a mandate across all Ciena products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal stock levels, prevent disruptions, and enhance overall supply chain performance.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Inventory Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of inventory levels, trends, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities, including analysis and management of the quarterly component prepay process with Contract Manufacturers & Distributors
  • Inventory Optimization: Implement strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and minimize stockouts, including programs such as the disposition of excess components material.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in inventory management processes and recommend innovative solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and control. 
  • Data Management: Maintain and ensure the integrity of inventory data within ERP systems and other inventory management tools, such as Rapid Response. Prepare and present detailed reports and dashboards on inventory performance, KPIs, and actionable insights including analysis and recommendations during our quarterly excess & obsolete process. 
  • Risk Mitigation: Monitor and address risks related to inventory shrinkage, obsolescence, and supply chain disruptions. 
  • Collaboration: Partner with procurement, operations, demand planning, and sales teams to align inventory strategies with business objectives and influence decisions on manufacture discontinue of products with minimal inventory impact. 
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards for inventory management and control 
  • Inventory Reporting: Generate inventory reports, including inventory levels, projections, and E&O. Communicate insights and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive change within contract manufactures, PLM and supply chain.
  • Technical understanding of Ciena products & manufacturing process as well as inventory management theory & practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills focusing on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated skills in desktop applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as with inventory management systems (e.g., Oracle, Rapid Response) and advanced data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or SQL).
  • Strong financial acumen, the ability to perform cost/benefit analysis of complex actions/initiatives.
  • Ability to learn and grasp technical concepts related to changes in the end-to-end supply chain.

Preferred Skills:

  • Collaborator, organized, self-motivated, and capable of independent work.
  • Multitasking: able to manage complex projects simultaneously.
  • Able to negotiate internally and externally of the Supply Chain.
  • Superior interface skills and ability to work at all levels of Ciena including executive management.
  • Experience in developing Alteryx workflows to simply analytics
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP)

The annual pay range for this position is $80,900 - $129,200 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
