Lead Renewable Engineer – Electrical

The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Lead Renewables Engineer – Electrical position. This role will support utility-scale Solar, Wind, and BESS projects primarily in an Owner’s Engineering capacity. The selected candidate will engage with our clients and cross-discipline teams to provide innovative, forward-thinking design reviews, and solutions to facilitate pre-construction, design, construction, and startup/commissioning of Renewable Energy projects.
What You'll Do
- Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, industry standards, and contract documents to complete engineering reviews and provide general guidance to our clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review plans and develop observation reports which are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound utility-scale Renewable generation engineering practices.
- Recommend alterations to design criteria and design features to improve quality and mitigate risk.
- Work closely with and provide guidance to engineering leads.
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
- Be technically involved with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigation or observations and when necessary and resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
- Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
- Review plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk management considerations.
- Maintain a value-engineering mindset throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
- Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solution(s).
- Support marketing, sales, and business development activities within assigned market.
- Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.
What We Expect from You
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of Professional Engineer (PE) registration, and NCEES Council Record, preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of power systems engineering experience preferred.
- Experience with utility-scale Renewables facilities with complex project requirements is highly desired.
- Experience with various solar design software programs.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Council (NESC), and industry standards a plus.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and system protection a plus.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Ability to travel periodically to client offices and project sites.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
