Maximus is building an advanced telemedicine platform to help men improve their mental and physical health. We iterate on our product rapidly and safely by applying continuous integration and code quality measurements, as well as TDD and pair programming when appropriate. About the Role:
As our Lead QA Engineer, you'll establish and lead our QA strategy, working directly with our Head of Engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and reliability of the Maximus platform. This is a key leadership position where you'll build and manage our QA team while implementing scalable testing processes.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of our QA strategy across our applications
Build and manage a high-performing QA team, establishing best practices and mentoring team members
Design and implement automated testing frameworks that support our event-sourced architecture
Collaborate with product and engineering teams during sprint planning to ensure quality is built into our development process
Establish quality metrics and reporting mechanisms to track and improve system reliability
Ensure testing coverage for HIPAA compliance and healthcare-specific requirements
Create and maintain test plans for critical systems including prescription management, lab testing integrations, and payment processing
Participate in sprint ceremonies and provide quality-focused input during backlog refinement
The ideal candidate will have the following:
5+ years of QA engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Strong experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Ruby/Rails and React testing frameworks
Background in healthcare technology or HIPAA-compliant systems preferred
Strong understanding of API testing
Proven track record of building and scaling QA processes in fast-growing organizations
Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools
Excellence in written communication and documentation
Background in agile methodologies and sprint-based development
Technical Stack / Skills:
Testing Frameworks: RSpec, Jest, Cypress
CI/CD: Experience with automated testing pipelines
Monitoring & Debugging: Familiarity with APM tools
Database Testing: PostgreSQL
API Testing: REST, GraphQL
Security Testing: Understanding of OWASP and security best practices
Performance Testing: Load testing, stress testing, scalability testing
