Lead, Public Relations/Communications Manager

NerdWallet is seeking a Lead Public Relations/Communications Manager with a knack for strategic storytelling, media engagement, and team leadership. As a key player in our Consumer Credit business, you’ll develop and execute PR strategies that strengthen NerdWallet's position as a trusted source in personal finance. You'll manage PR efforts across Cards, Travel, Wealth, and Vertical Expansion, working closely with stakeholders across the business to drive media coverage and SEO impact. Where you can make an impact: 

• Drive and Execute PR Strategy: Design and implement communications strategies that enhance NerdWallet’s media presence in key financial areas.
• Lead proactive and reactive media engagement to drive coverage in support of our SEO strategy and other business objectives.
• Lead a High-Performing Team: Mentor and guide PR team members, fostering a collaborative, innovative environment.
• Engage Key Stakeholders: Build and sustain relationships with top media, journalists, and influencers to drive impactful media coverage.
• Measure Success: Track PR metrics, present findings, and adjust strategies to optimize outcomes.

Your experience:

• 5-7 years experience in PR or communications (agency or in-house experience, personal finance experience preferred), with 2-3 years of people management experience preferred
• Proven track record of developing and driving communications strategies aligned with business objectives
• Deep experience in media relations and working with data and spokespeople to secure coverage
• Experience with SEO
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ownership-mentality, autonomy, and urgency in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities 
• Background in personal finance  
• Experience managing contractors and external agencies
• Experience with consumer comms and building thought leadership platforms
• Experience with media partnerships
