GOAT Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist Lead who will be responsible for assisting in full cycle multi-state payroll processing and activities necessary to ensure accurate and timely payroll according to all applicable federal and state regulations. The Payroll Specialist Lead will also review timecards, wage computation, and other information to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to posting payroll.

About the team:

This position will work closely with the People Operations and Accounting & Finance teams to improve overall processes and will provide exceptional internal customer service. The role will report to the Payroll Manager within the Accounting & Finance team. 

In this role you will:

  • Follow established procedures to process bi-weekly and weekly payroll for 1,000+ US multi-state employees.
  • Assist with the accumulation, review, and balancing of hours in the time and attendance module (UKG Dimensions/Workforce Management).
  • Assist with the maintenance of time and pay data necessary to process paychecks, tax changes, retroactive adjustments, garnishments, special pays, and paid time off adjustments in the online payroll system (UKG).
  • Process off-cycle payrolls for check adjustments, voids, and reissues.
  • Identify and assist with requirements and registration for new state and local jurisdictions.
  • Review and maintain payroll tax notices received from agencies and sent to payroll service provider.
  • Assist with Quarter End and Year End reconciliations and processing.
  • Assist with payroll related audits and reporting.
  • Support payroll related administrative duties and tasks as needed.

 

We are looking for:

  • 4+ years of multi-state Payroll experience.
  • Experience working with a payroll size of 1,000+ employees with a large hourly workforce.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, payroll tax calculation and payroll tax filing.
  • Extensive knowledge of various state laws, rules, regulations, and procedures as it relates to Payroll.
  • Knowledge of payroll, time and attendance, HRIS and self-service systems for a large-scale service provider (UKG, ADP, Ceridian).
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills with a high sense of urgency to research and resolve inquiries (internal/external) and respond in a timely manner.
  • Self-motivated and can stay on task with expected interruptions through-out the day.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
