Job Description:

The Lead Analyst leads the DTN and DTN/The Progressive Farmer commodity analysis team and is responsible for setting DTN's view and positions in the marketplace. This role involves:

  • Serving as the caretaker and creator of the DTN Six Factors™ Strategies.
  • Developing specific marketing strategies and collaborating with other analysts to create additional strategies.

DTN/The Progressive Farmer specializes in business-to-business news, information, and analysis for practicing farmers, farm managers, and those managing agriculturally related businesses. The articles focus not just on the events of the day, but also on how these events affect the profitability of DTN/PF readers and customers.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Market Presence and Communication:

    • Act as the face of DTN's market presence.
    • Discuss markets and DTN's views through written columns, blogs, online streaming video, webinars, and live/recorded appearances at various events.
    • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and department leaders on DTN corporate sales and marketing strategies.
  • Customer Engagement:

    • Ensure DTN/PF customers receive high-quality information and advice for critical business decisions.
    • Represent the company and Ag products at speaking engagements, media interviews, and commodity organization events.
    • Serve as a source for DTN/PF journalists and commentators on market-related issues.
  • Content Contribution:

    • Work with the Progressive Farmer Magazine Editor-in-Chief on relevant articles and columns.

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Deep knowledge of commodities and related futures markets.
  • High-level understanding of technical analysis and charting techniques.
  • Familiarity with the grain trading industry, including farmer and in-country grain buyer positions.
  • Ability to make buying and selling recommendations, with a primary focus on farmers/producers.
  • Leadership skills to guide a team of analysts and establish the "DTN/PF view/position."
  • Excellent communication skills across various formats: written, digital, audio, visual, and live verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize critical markets, set and meet deadlines, and understand the timeliness in commodity trading.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
