Leads team and independently designs, develops, tests, implements, documents, and supports big data/ data lake systems, including cataloging, modeling, ingestion, streaming, processing, and storage technologies and processes. Possesses an effective understanding of the source systems, and leverages knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence technologies, as well as processes, to execute responsibilities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements, and develops detailed work plans

  • Works closely with business and IT stakeholders to optimize information by defining business requirements and populating the data lake

  • Designs, develops, and maintains the big data technologies and architectures

  • Performs big data design and testing, including data design, big data architecture, catalog, and repository creation

  • Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source systems and place it into the data lake

  • May supervise or manage four or fewer employees, and responsible for team's performance; coaches and mentors team members

  • Creates big data schematics and layouts, and develops capacity planning

  • Seeks continuous big data performance improvement and ensures security of information

  • Creates and implements effective metrics and monitoring processes

  • Recommends improvements and applies standards, processes, and procedures for big data systems

EDUCATION:
Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/ experience

EXPERIENCE:
Required:

  • 8+ years big data or relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • 8+ years experience with cataloging, modeling, ingestion, processing, and streaming s technologies and processes; 4+ years of Data Analysis experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to guide junior DBAs. Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus.

  • Advanced ability to solve complex problems, drawing upon creativity, experience, and multiple sources of information. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or difficult information.

  • SSRS, DMS, SSL/TLS, SQL, JSON, and Excel

  • AIX/Linux, Windows

  • MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, NoSQL, Postgres, Mongo DB and Hive

  • DevOps-style deployment tools (eg, Docker, Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform)

Compensation Range:

$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
