The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
The Lead Advocacy Coordinator will work closely to facilitate Business Operations working with a team of lobbyists, policy experts, communicationsā professionals, grassrootsā professionals and strategic partnerships personnel to support a broad portfolio for the ACS CAN national office. Primary responsibilities include, supporting: Financial planningā check and contract processing with external collaborators, budget entry, and participation in finance meetings, Business Operationsā organizing and managing the DC office, portfolio project coordination, materials management, and office event facilitation, and Field Advocacy Operationsā administrative & logistical planning of meetings, regular coordination with Field Advocacy Team. This position reports to the Advocacy Business Operations Manager.***This is a remote hybrid position based at our Washington DC office. Candidates must be able to work onsite approx. 1- 2 days per week and as needed.***
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Advocacy Business Operations Support
- Facilitate DC Office operations related to the ordering of materials and supplies (paper, letter head, business cars, etc.).Ā
- Organize physical office space: offices, cubicles, cabinets, kitchen, closets, file drawers etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate event planning for DC meetings by scheduling conference/meeting rooms (in suite, shared on 5th floor, liaise with building to secure conference space, recommend and coordinate catering as necessary and execute meeting attendee access..
- Provide high level administrative support to Business Operations leads liaising with cross enterprise teams.
- Office management, in coordinator with Business Operations Manager, serve as a point of contact providing consultation, guidance, and training to ACS CAN staff and communicating timely message regarding weather, traffic, closures, etc.
- Liaise between legal team, Business Operations, and staff to execute contracting and payment of all national vendors in close collaboration with budget owners, accomplishing Purchase Orders, reclasses, and processing of incoming checks.Ā
ACS CAN Accounting & Finance Support
- Support financial planning & budget entry.
- Reclasses of income and expenditures.
- Check, contract, and Purchase order processing in coordinator with legal team, program leads, vendors, and external partners.
- Support preparation and execution of financial reporting consistent with ACS policies and procedures.
Field Advocacy Operations Support
- Event Planning (administrative and logistical), in coordination with Business Operations manager, for ACS CAN staff related to onsite and offsite events ā¦
