We’re actively seeking a talented Lead Agile Practitioner to join our Enterprise data team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid or 100% remote.

As a Lead Agile Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success. This position will report to the Data & Technology Manager and will be responsible for end-end delivery of data initiatives within the Pacific Life data team. These initiatives deliver data products that support data-driven decision making for the business.

How you will make an impact:

  • Proven experience overseeing all elements of the software development life cycle
  • Build and develop strong relationships with your team, business and technology stakeholders.
  • Manage and communicate project resource needs, risks, issues and upstream/downstream dependencies to ensure value-based delivery and results.
  • Apply Scrum framework for project execution and delivery
  • Create visibility into progress of each sprint/ release through use of velocity, burndown charts, committed vs. completed metrics, etc.
  • Create consistent planning, visibility, and reporting practices among development teams, both within individual product programs and across the portfolio
  • Support and apply the discipline of agile project and program management and related best practices.
  • Facilitate daily activities with cross-functional data engineering teams (pods) and business stakeholders that lead to outcomes and value generation
  • Act as Agile mentor/coach
  • Serve as Scrum Master and Technical Project Manager on one or more Agile Teams while simultaneously teaching and reinforcing best practices

The experience you bring:

  • Over 8 years of project management experience with a focus on technology delivery, execution and process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven experience in managing projects utilizing agile methodologies.
  • A strong understanding of the software development life cycle and working with technical or data analytic teams.
  • Excellent facilitator and communicator, with ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting change management efforts, with the ability to identify and analyze impacts for internal stakeholders affected by initiatives.
  • Outcome-driven self-starter who’s comfortable with ambiguity, and who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative culture.
  • Ability to successfully deliver with geographically distributed data engineering teams

What makes you stand out:

  • Over 4 years experience managing delivery for data technology organization
  • Experience working in a hybrid Scrum master and Project Manager role
  • A data driven individual with a good understanding of data engineering, data governance, and data quality fundamentals
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Financial services domain knowledge
  • Experience operating in complex data systems environment
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing organizational priorities

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$144,630.00 - $176,770.00
