2Position Summary/Job Duties:
I am looking to work with someone with a background in landscape architecture/horticulture to produce a planting plan for portions of my near east side home.
I have listed the number of positions as "1" but if you want to team up with one of your classmates I will not be opposed to that.
At present I have established gardens, irrigation and lighting, but the loss of large maple dramatically increased the amount of light striking my property and burned-out quite a few shade tolerant plants that had previously thrived. I am hoping to achieve great form, shape, and color in the now "full sun" areas AND also address other areas previously planted, where past efforts created lackluster results. I also am very serious about outdoor lighting and design am ready to add more lighting, sculpture and art. I don't expect you to know everything about every last plant option as we can turn to other experienced nursery operators and gardeners for questions about how specific plant options might fare given the particulars of my soils, light and existing plants. What I really am looking for are great design ideas that can then be finalized with the choice of appropriate plants, sculpture, and lighting. This can be a part-time job you can fit into your schedule. I listed the number of hours per week as 10 but that could be increased too. I listed the start date as 10/12 but I can be flexible on that too. There will be an opportunity to see your design come to life, and additional hours will be available for planting, transplanting, lighting design, maintenance, etc. There is no cap on the number of hours per week you can work, I am patient so I won't have a specific deadline in mind for either the design or implementing the planting plan, or the implementation. My desire will be to work with someone who will still be in Madison for the spring semester, but if the design is strong that is not an absolute necessity.
Also a good friend has a nearby home and she also needs a basic planting/hardscaping design which she can implement through time. That might be a second assignment.
