The Junior Data Scientist will be responsible for supporting the development of analytic solutions through consulting engagements for TransUnion’s clients across a broad array of credit, fraud, insurance and marketing business applications. This position requires a general understanding of US financial services risk management practices.

What You'll Bring:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in economics, statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or other highly quantitative field; OR a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and move machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced programming skill and aptitude; proficiency with statistical programs such as R or Python; experience with other programming and data manipulation languages and big data platforms (SQL, Hive, Spark, C/C++, Java); high level of familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences. Versatile interpersonal and communication style with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels within and outside the organization; ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment; evidence of initiative-taking.
