ITA is an innovative pre-college program for diverse students in the state of Wisconsin. Currently, ITA has programs in Madison, Lac du Flambeau, and Oneida, WI. Approximately 20 hours a weekFlexible to accommodate a graduate assistant’s course schedule - Monday – Friday. Staff must be able to participate in required ITA student events. This is a 12-month appointment. Start date – June 2, 2025
The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Degree and area of specialization:Must be a UW-Madison enrolled graduate student in good standing who is making satisfactory progress toward a master’s or doctoral degree in education, counseling, or a related field with interest in working with diverse, historically underrepresented youth populations.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
-English Fluency is required
-Teaching experience with high school students preferred. Student teaching experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Working knowledge and skills with a variety of technology tools, including Google cloud, Microsoft, and other web-based productivity tools, such as online calendaring, learning management systems (Canvas), email and other applications.
-Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging content to students.
-Experience planning and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of all students
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Principal duties:
The UW-Madison Information Technology Academy (ITA) is an innovative pre-college program for diverse students in the state of Wisconsin. Currently ITA has programs in Madison, Lac du Flambeau, and Oneida, WI. Through a focus on technology exploration, leadership development, and college preparation, ITA offers diverse high school students the skills, resources, and support needed to become strong candidates for admission to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During the academic year (Sept – May), ITA will have a hybrid learning model. Courses will be delivered online through Canvas on a biweekly release schedule. ITA students and staff will meet in person three times each semester during our Saturday Seminars, held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Instructors will hold flexible virtual office hours during the week to accommodate the schedules of both students and staff. In addition to instructional responsibilities, this position will support student engagement activities throughout the year, fostering community and enhancing student experiences outside of coursework. During the summer, weekend work will be rare, as all summer camps will take place on weekdays.
A. Study Skills – ITA Madison Program – 40%
In consultation with the ITA Executive Director and ITA academic program staff, the professional in this position will use and modify pre-developed curricular materials to plan lessons, teach, and evaluate student learning. In addition, the instructor will take attendance, enforce ITA policies and procedures, and report on student progress to parents and ITA staff. The Study Skills course helps students develop effective learning strategies, time management techniques, and organizational habits. This is a hybrid course that will be taught both online through Canvas and in-person during our Saturday Seminars during the academic school year. Audience: 9th grade students.
B. ACT Test Preparation Course – ITA Madison Program – 40%
In consultation with the ITA Executive Director and ITA academic program staff, the professional in this position will use and modify pre-developed curricular materials to plan lessons, teach, and evaluate student learning. In addition, the instructor will take attendance, enforce ITA policies and procedures, and report on student progress to parents and ITA staff. The ACT Test Prep course helps students build the skills and strategies needed to succeed on the ACT exam, students will focus on test-taking techniques, time management, and practice exams to boost confidence and performance. This is a hybrid course that will be taught both online through Canvas and in-person during our Saturday Seminars during the academic school year. Audience: 11th grade students.
D. General Program Support –20%
Additional duties will include:
-Attend staff meetings and retreats, virtual and in-person.
-Assist with and/or teach workshops for ITA summer programming including the Senior Residential Experience (SRE) which typically takes place the last week of July and August in-person.
-Assist with and attend ITA special events.
-Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills related to the position.
-Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by ITA Executive Director.
Finalists must submit to and pass a national criminal background check before an offer of employment will be extended.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to occasionally lift and push up to 50 lbs of instructional materials.
