JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

If you’re interested in being a part of an Information Technology Team that works hard finding solutions and providing the best user experience for our students, faculty, and staff, all while still having fun with co-workers, then consider working for Penn State’s Outreach and Online Education Information Technology (OOE IT) Team. We investigate, evaluate, and collaborate to find the best technical tools and setup for our future, and the next generation of online learners.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the IT Solutions Director is a core leadership role in Outreach Information Technology (OIT) and will play a critical role in the planning and execution of technology solutions across a wide range of platforms. The goal is to implement technology solutions on-time, on-budget and transition them to operations for ongoing maintenance and support. The IT Solutions Director will be an expert leader of people and create a high performing team with progressive and relevant skills aimed at project management and the unique technology and application needs of OOE.  Demand for niche business applications is growing in OOE and the IT Solutions Director will have the opportunity to create capabilities and capacity to address this need. The person in the position will need to be a “bridge builder” and coach who can approach this role with finesse on a strong foundation of emotional intelligence. While many of the application delivery domains exist today, alignment will be needed to smooth out delivery practices with a focus on client needs from the “outside in”.

OOE IT values strong communicators, collaborators and client focused individuals. We also look for individuals with the ability to persevere to find the best solution and prove adaptable and accountable. This is a leadership position, where qualified candidates will exhibit an expert level of knowledge and extensive experience fulfilling similar duties in previous positions. Developed time management, emotional intelligence, and proven mentoring abilities are a requirement for the successful candidate. As a new team member with OOE IT you will be expected to be a key contributor, an out of the box thinker and challenger to the status quo. To help ensure your success, we will provide an appropriate onboarding period, check-ins with peers and supervisors, and an open door to the Executive Director, to address any needs or concerns.

Education and Experience:

The minimum requirement is a Bachelor's Degree and 10 + years of relevant experience, inlcuding 3+ years of supervisory experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is either fully remote, hybrid or located at the University Park campus in Innovation Park.
