Our team combines technical proficiency with investigative intuition to help private sector clients navigate complex challenges in cryptocurrency-related compliance and fraud detection.
As an Investigator, you excel at proactive research, data-driven analysis, and clear communication of your findings to internal teams and external stakeholders. You leverage Chainalysis tools to uncover trends in illicit crypto activity, assess risks, and provide actionable insights that strengthen compliance programs, threat intelligence assessments, and fraud prevention efforts. Collaborating across departments and with clients, you play a key role in supporting financial crime investigations, enhancing anti-money laundering (AML) strategies, and ensuring organizations stay ahead of emerging threats in the evolving digital asset landscape.
In this role, you'll:
Collaborate with team members and across Chainalysis to support complex cryptocurrency investigationsÂ
Provide investigative/analytic support for extremely complex, technical, and highly sensitive investigations and initiatives pertaining to financial crimes, including cryptocurrenciesÂ
Conduct research and data analysis, author reports of your investigative findings, and present those findings to team members and customersÂ
Review the adequacy and completeness of investigations and the data collection methods to determine the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of that data resulting in more thorough investigations or analytic assessments.Â
Prepare in-depth summaries of data from extensive research and analysis to set forth recommendations for investigations, lead follow up, and potential risks that could hamper an investigation
Evangelize the Chainalysis mission of bringing trust to blockchains, becoming an expert at using our tools and data to develop insights on illicit activity trends in crypto and its impact on our customers.  Â
We're looking for candidates who have:
A Bachelorâs degree in cybersecurity, cyber crime, intelligence, international studies, criminal justice, forensic accounting, data analytics, or a similar
Previous work experience conducting complex financial crime investigations and threat intelligence collection or equivalent forensic experience related to dark web, ransomware, money laundering, counter-terrorism, cryptocurrency investigations, or technical analysis highly desired
Experience conducting open-source research utilizing public and private databases highly desired
Interest in and/or passion for blockchain/cryptocurrency technology
Experience as an analyst or investigator in the private sector
