Internship, Russia Studies, Fall 2024

Overview

All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.

Russia Studies team focuses on U.S.- Russian relations and current affairs across the former Soviet Union. The intern will deepen their understanding of the current and historical trends between the two countries. They will gain a strong skill set on policy-related research and editing skills.

CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

Please note that all internships are offered on a hybrid (half in the office, half remote) or fully remote basis. All internships are paid positions (no exceptions can be made on this). As such, all interns must have the legal right to work in the United States and be based in the United States for the duration of the internship.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

• Perform data analysis and collecting archival materials on Russia
• Conduct research and collecting archival documents for fellow's book project 
• Track weekly news report that are relevant to the assignment

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student studying international relations, Russia/ East European/ Eurasian area studies, or a related field
• All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including Ap classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
• Russian proficiency (reading)
• Strong written, oral, and organizational skills
• Microsoft Office and Internet research skills

Pay Rate

$17.50 per hour
