Overview
All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.
CFR's David Rockefeller Studies Program has a fellow who is part of both the Asia Program and the Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies. The fellow is looking for an intern to assist on a book project. They will research a wide range of topics, including international finance/financial markets, energy and energy security, emerging markets, and East Asia.
CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.
CFR’s fall internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.
The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
- Data analysis and collection of Chinese national, local, and household economic data
- Complete research requests for articles, memos, blog posts, briefings etc.
- Conducting research related to international political economy and write posts for the Asia Unbound blog
- Attending general Council meetings and other programs on foreign policy issues, as time permits
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate student focusing on international relations, international political economy, international finance and economics, or related field
- All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship)
- Previous research with Chinese economic/financial data sources and literature review experience is a plus
- Proficiency in data analysis programs such as Stat, R, or Excel is a plus
- Proficiency in Chinese is preferred but not required
- Strong research, editing and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Pay Rate
$17.50 per hour
