Job Summary:

The International Practice Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in executing on the tactical operations needs of the International Practice.

The US International Practice consists of professionals in audit, tax, and advisory with international business, culture, and language fluency, who assist clients and colleagues in the US and abroad by facilitating excellent client service, pursuing international business development objectives, enhancing the awareness of BDO as a leading international firm, and supporting engagement teams with country or region-specific issues and questions.

International Practice Operations exists to use process, technology, strategic thinking, and more to help the practice be more efficient, effective, and cohesive, allowing the desk team members to focus efforts on where they add value, thereby increasing revenue, enhancing quality and mitigating risk. The Operations Specialist role is a new position to the team, to continue and expand recent operations and process improvements in the practice with special focus on data and technology. This is a great role for someone with a passion for process improvement who also enjoys getting into the nuts and bolts to make things work.

The Operations Specialist will work with the International Practice Operations Director on various projects, including research, data mining and analysis, technology solutions, process design and improvement, report generation, and more. This full-time position requires exceptional project management skills to track and execute against a portfolio of initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and data analysis skills; the ability to multitask; self-motivation; and excellent communication abilities. Strong proficiency with technology, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and relationship-building capabilities are essential.

While international business experience is preferred, it is not a requirement, though candidates should at least be ready to learn. This is a remote position; however, candidates located near a BDO office, particularly in the DC Metro area, will be given preference.

Job Duties:

  • Executes tactical operations for the International Practice, maintaining a high level of organization to effectively execute against a diverse portfolio of initiatives and routines simultaneously
  • Independently works on assigned projects, tracking timelines, action items, follow-ups, and status updates
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Demonstrates self-drive and motivation to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results
  • Communicates effectively to gather requirements, provide updates, document solutions, and write user guidance
  • Creates and maintains technological solutions to optimize international processes and operations – or work with others to do so
  • Aggregates, summarizes, analyzes and presents data related to International Practice operations and/or global business and projects; this may entail setting up systems to collect the data
  • Pays meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all deliverables
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; with a focus in Business, preferred OR High School Diploma AND seven (7) or more years of experience with operations and improving processes, required

Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with operations and improving processes, required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in project management, required
  • One (1) or more years of experience with data research/aggregation and analysis, required
  • One (1) or more years of experience implementing technology solutions and completing end-user testing, preferred
  • International business experience, preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • PMP Certification or another Project Management Certification, preferred

Software/Technology:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), required
  • Proficient with Smartsheet, preferred
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, CRM, any ERP or PSA, preferred

Languages:

  • Multilingual, (speak, read, write) with some combination of Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, German, French, or Portuguese, preferred

  • Proactive and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Self-driven and motivated, demonstrating the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines – independently or in a group environment

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, prepare business cases, and offer insights to help inform leadership decisions
  • Able to learn new technology and knowledge with projects to create technology solutions to address business needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables
  • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and find creative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity while driving results
  • Ability to follow and apply specific rules and regulations

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.   National Range:  $80,000 - $100,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $80,000 - $100,000
