Job Description

SUMMARY: 

The Game Design Intern is responsible for contributing to the creation of innovative and engaging learning games for K-12 learners. They will be assisting and learning to create game mechanics, 2D and 3D game assets, animations, graphics, and assist with play testing. In this role, the Game Design Intern will communicate and collaborate with the broader Visual Design, Instructional Design, UX and Curriculum Development teams on digital content production.

  • Creates, revises, and prepares game assets and materials as needed for curriculum game development.
  • Work with Curriculum Product Innovation leads and game developers to deliver new game mechanics.
  • Works with game developers to test new game code and mechanics, and debug games.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the business, needs and business goals
  • Executes tasks by utilizing various technologies and platforms specific to the business in addition to creative and design programs
  • Provides additional support to the Curriculum Development teams as needed

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Current or rising college student pursuing a BS/BA or MS/MA degree in Game Design/Development, Software Development/Computer Science, Visual Arts, Animation, Product Design, UX Design, or a related field

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with at least one game development engine, preferably Phaser, GameMaker, or Unity
  • Experience with game code development and/or C#
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and/or Blender for creation of 2D and 3D assets
  • Ability to execute creative ideas into practical solutions
  • Self-motivation and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Passionate about creating well-designed products for education
  • Ability to listen effectively, respect others’ perspectives and contributions, and offer and accept constructive feedback
  • Experience with UX design a plus
  • Ability to work remotely with a good internet connection
  • Ability to clear required background check

  • This is a home-based position.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range

    · We anticipate this position will pay between $16.00 to $22.00 per hour. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
