Insurance Operations Associate Director

Branch HQ

Branch is on a mission to make insurance less expensive, so more people can be covered. We innovate using data, tech, and automation to simplify insurance from start to finish—we eliminated inaccurate quotes in favor of real prices, created a better way to bundle, and cut unnecessary costs in the traditional insurance process. Then we pass those savings along to our members. Basically, we’re doing insurance the way it was meant to be.

But we didn’t just create the insurance we’ve always wanted, we also created the company we’ve always wanted to work for. As we redefine insurance, we also want to redefine what it means to work in insurance. Find out for yourself.

Branch has a preference for candidates in Ohio, but is open to candidates located in AL, AZ, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS. MO, NE, NV, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WI.

Branch is remote first, with most Branchers choosing to work from home. Our headquarters are located in Columbus, Ohio, where we come together from time to time to build relationships and connect with each other in real life. Once a year, the entire company gathers for “BranchFest”, a highlight of the year for many Branchers.

About the role

At Branch, we’re reshaping the insurance experience with efficient, transparent, and member-centered solutions. As an Insurance Operations Associate Director, you’ll play a critical role in executing our contract strategy, overseeing contract, compliance and QA operations, and ensuring regulatory alignment—all while enhancing consistency, scalability, and operational impact.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of professionals, working cross-functionally with Legal, Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and Operations. Your focus will be on execution excellence, improving workflows, and ensuring best practices that reflect company standards, risk appetite, and compliance obligations.

This role is ideal for someone who’s energized by driving process improvements, navigating complex regulatory landscapes, and supporting business growth with strong execution, data insights, and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and evolve contract management processes in alignment with business goals, underwriting strategy, and compliance requirements.

  • Manage and develop a professional contract, compliance and QA operations team, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and resource planning to ensure performance and delivery.

  • Oversee the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, and executing contracts, while maintaining tools and documentation to support consistency and risk control.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and legal standards, partnering with Legal and Compliance teams to stay current with changing requirements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to improve workflows and proactively resolve contract, compliance and QA-related challenges.

  • Implement process improvements by identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and standardize contracting practices.

  • Support vendor relationships and internal audits related to compliance and documentation.

  • Analyze contract data and reporting metrics to help inform business decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • 8–10 years of experience in insurance contracts, underwriting, risk management, or related fields, with 3–5 years in a team leadership or operations-focused role.

  • Strong working knowledge of insurance contract structures, compliance requirements, and industry terminology.

  • Experience managing or supporting contract operations or legal documentation systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, execute complex processes, and build stakeholder relationships across departments.

  • Proficiency with contract management tools, workflow optimization, and process documentation.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to balance compliance, business needs, and operational agility in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

  • Experience in insurtech or growth-stage organizations is a plus.
