Infrastructure Engineering Manager

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Infrastructure team, ensuring our platform remains reliable, secure, and scalable.

As the Engineering Manager for our Cloud Infrastructure Team, you will oversee a team of talented engineers who are responsible for maintaining the core cloud infrastructure that powers Workiva’s regulated reporting platform. Your leadership will be critical in enabling our engineering teams to utilize cloud infrastructure with minimal configuration and maintenance, while maintaining world-class security standards.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a people-first culture that empowers team members to succeed

  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Workiva to ensure effective and reliable usage of cloud systems and infrastructure

  • Oversee the management and operation of numerous Kubernetes clusters and supporting services, ensuring they are optimized for performance and security

  • Develop and operate core networking solutions, including AWS Networking, Cloudflare WAF, DDOS protection, and Zero Trust frameworks

  • Implement and maintain security tooling to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the infrastructure platform

  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure operating expenses, ensuring cost efficiency

  • Guide the team in scoping complex projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 4+ years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of direct people management experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a high-compliance environment

  • A “people first” mindset, with experience in career development, performance coaching, and fostering a strong team culture

  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes clusters at scale, with experience in operating and developing large-scale clusters

  • Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Golang, or Java) with the ability to review code and ensure quality

  • Experience in optimizing code bases for performance and scale

  • Prior experience with AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, RDS, and DynamoDB

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation

  • Experience in managing SLOs to track the reliability of core services

  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure in a high-compliance environment (e.g., financial, healthcare)

  • Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for cloud infrastructure
