Job Summary:

Acting as member of global Environmental, Health & Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team, the Industrial Hygienist / Global EHS Expert will support Jabil sites to drive procedures, programs, processes and systems that help the enterprise achieve zero injuries and illnesses, zero environmental incidents and zero EHS non-conformances.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides interpretation of technical INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE matters and relevant legal/customer requirements that have global impact at the enterprise
  • Working with global EHS Leadership Team, establish clear expectation on enterprise minimum requirement across the company on all OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE related topics
  • Review, update, develop and/or implement Jabil worldwide OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE standards
  • Provide support to regional EHS team and sites for implementation and technical difficulties upon request  
  • Develop and maintain training content on specific technical guidelines, Jabil Worldwide OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE standards or regulatory requirement in the means to support the understanding and implementation of the requirements (train the trainers)
  • Collaborate with wider EHS community to monitor OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE performance within enterprise and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in investigations of incidents or near miss events upon request
  • Coordinate with the members of corporate EHS team to initiate, develop and execute projects and plans to address major incidents, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE risk reduction and compliance projects.
  • Provide functional leadership in one or more areas of Jabil’s OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE programs 
  • Influence the manufacturing organization to improve OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE knowledge and understanding through various means, including working in cross-functional teams.
  • Provide specialist consulting in all aspects of OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE upon request
  • Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE field. Actively incorporate that knowledge into Jabil practices.
  • Participate actively in efforts to continue to develop and mature the EHS culture across the company.
  • Incorporate inherently safer design strategies in project design and critical operating systems (Prevention Through Design).
  • Review projects on request to ensure project objective meets the business needs as well as recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (ASME, API, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
  • Perform OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE assessments, audits and surveys at Jabil sites throughout world
  • Support and assist with mergers and acquisitions projects, including but not limited to:  conduct or participate in specialized industrial hygiene (IH), chemical exposure, machine guarding, personnel protective equipment (PPE) and other OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE related assessments at acquisition targets; support acquired sites to ensure efficient integration into Jabil
  • Commission and review process OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE engineering deliverables from contractors and suppliers.
  • May join global assessment program as auditor/SME upon request
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Superior knowledge of INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE regulatory and best practice requirements in a multinational manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a regulated environment.
  • Skill in risk based decision making, effectively coordinating OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH / INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE and business needs.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; a team orientation, as well as the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels (executives, managers, and non-managerial), within and outside the organization.
  • Project management experience
  • Training & development experience
  • Exhibits positivity, passion, integrity, and responsibility.
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities.
  • Experience working for labor intensive industry is preferred
  • Experience working in Asia, EU and US is preferred
  • Experience in management of contractors and other technical resources a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; fluent in English strongly preferred

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health / Industrial Hygiene, Safety Science/Engineering/Management, Environmental Science/Engineering/Management or related engineering or science discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of management, project, technical, production and/or engineering experience in chemical, petrochemical or manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification strongly preferred
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (i.e., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).  
  • May lead teams, projects, etc.
  • Reports to Global EHS Manager - Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team

The pay range for this role is $116,421 - $209,557. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. The anticipated close date of this job requisition is: October 25, 2024.

As part of the total rewards package, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive based on performance. In addition, Jabil offers benefits to enhance your health, wealth, and resilient self.
