Image Processing Technician - Chestnuts

All Remote

Department Overview:

This project aims to develop, train, and optimize a deep learning-based model for automatic detection, segmentation, and enumeration of chestnut burrs in multispectral drone imagery. Additionally, this project aims to train a deep learning-based model for 3D object detection to detect and segment individual chestnut tree canopies from photogrammetry-derived point clouds. The anticipated result is an automated image-processing pipeline that relates chestnut yield to individual chestnut trees using drones and artificial intelligence. This framework will enable chestnut breeders to efficiently and effectively assess individual trees for target breeding objectives. The technician can anticipate assisting with identifying chestnut burrs in drone imagery and creating annotated imagery datasets for training various deep-learning algorithms.
