ICF is hiring Research Consultants to increase its pool of consultants supporting a U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) contract. The positions may be full or part time and work will be done remotely. It is estimated the job will last from mid-January 2025 to the end of April 2025. Candidates with suitable background who do well on this task will also be considered for subsequent tasks, if interested.

Job Description:

ICF supports the USDOL’s Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT) in

OCFT’s annual publication of the Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labor, otherwise known as the TDA report. The staff for these positions will be conducting technical and copy edits of this year’s TDA report. The work will be done on USDOL laptops and within USDOL’s custom SharePoint system. All researchers must first complete security clearance forms and complete the security process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing text and data in SharePoint according to strict USDOL guidelines (USDOL and ICF will provide training and written guidance).
  • Fact-checking sources used against the citations in the TDA report to ensure accuracy and adherence to the TDA guides.
  • Learning to use the USDOL SharePoint system and entering all comments and edits into that system.
  • Completing fact-checking and technical edit for each assigned country report in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, international trade, public policy, economics, international development, or political science
  • Availability to work between mid-January and April 2024; possible subsequent task starts in May 2024
  • 1+ years of experience in conducting desk research and editing on topics related to human rights, child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking
  • 2+ years of experience using Word, Excel, Adobe PDFs, and SharePoint
  • Ability to obtain low-level security clearance. Must meet all Background Investigation requirements in accordance to FIPS 201-2 para 2 (Common Identification, Security, and Privacy Requirements) section 2.1 and 2 (p. 5 and 6)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and produce accurate results, sometimes on a quick turnaround basis.
  • Advanced professional proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team and also be self-motivated

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$57,737.00 - $98,153.00
