Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Human Resource Manager to lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department such as administering pay, benefits, leave, immigration and enforcing company policies and practices.  

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, our Human Resources Manager will be a hands-on, servant leader with the ability to navigate both strategic and tactical work. This role is crucial in enhancing and implementing HR processes and integrations.  Key focus areas include designing and implementing exceptional people processes and tools, ensuring best-in-class operations, and executing and tracking people's priorities to engage our employees and enable high-impact work. The Human Resource Manager also provides project leadership for human resource initiatives. As part of the Human Resource department, s/he also provides mentorship to the HR Team, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience across a wide range of HR disciplines. A true generalist, this ideal candidate will possess in-depth expertise in HCM/HRIS implementation and integration, employee relations, benefits administration, immigration, compensation, compliance, and performance management, using this extensive background to mentor their team and foster the growth of the HR function.

As a manager at Softheon, note that this role's requirements may be beyond the 9am-6pm scope. It is expected that all managers will be available to the organization when needed.     

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with key management to provide strategic leadership and guidance on all HR aspects of the company’s policies, objectives, and initiatives, aiming to build, develop, and retain a diverse and highly qualified workforce.
  • Lead and manage HR projects and initiatives from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with HR leaders and cross-functional teams to identify project priorities, scope, and objectives, leveraging project management methodologies and tools.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with other HR members to develop and enhance solutions, processes, and programs that address current and future state.
  • Drive innovation by developing and implementing new HR strategies and concepts to enhance organizational effectiveness and support business objectives.

Talent Retention and Employee Engagement

  • Ensure retention of the best talent by partnering with business partners to create a positive working culture and environment which improves team and individual engagement levels.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the HR team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to the management team through coaching, career development, and counseling.
  • Conducting interviews for internal and external candidates.

HR Process Management

  • Manage and lead predefined HR initiatives in client groups, ensuring full implementation of all processes, practices, and programs.
  • Manage the full life cycle Open Enrollment process, including developing professional-level employee communications and coordinating informational webinars.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee-relations issues.
  • Customize and optimize the HCM/HRIS platform to align with HR processes and objectives, including configuring workflows and interfaces, creating custom fields, and implementing additional modules. Act as SME in maximizing HRIS.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR processes and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness across geographic areas.
  • Act as backup for the Sr. Payroll Specialist in emergent circumstances.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage, coordinate, and administer the entire health and wellness benefits suite, including FMLA/multi-state leaves, immigration, audits, Form 5500 preparation, Retirement plans, as well as HCM integration for payroll.

Data and Compliance

  • Develop HR dashboards to visualize key performance metrics through Excel and company software.
  • Create and monitor metrics that evaluate initiatives and programs to ensure a data-driven approach to effectiveness; use data to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with labor laws and data security protocols.
  • Automate recurring reports and ensure scheduled delivery to relevant stakeholders, reducing manual efforts and improving data accessibility.
  • Ensure compliance in AAP, EEOC, DOL, DHS, OSHA, and all other federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Continuous Learning and Culture

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent retention, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field. Master's in human resources management preferred.
  • Demonstrated 8-10 years of extensive, practical, hands-on HR Generalist experience in progressively responsible human resources roles in a medium-sized organization outside of a PEO.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience.
  • Experience working within an agile, diverse, and constantly evolving business.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Demonstrated success in remote work environments, displaying the ability to effectively manage tasks and collaborate with team members virtually.
    • 2 + years of Health Tech/SaaS industry experience
    • Experience working in mid-sized organizations 
    • Experience with mergers & acquisitions 
    • Experience in scaling HR departments

Technical Skills and HR Systems

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing end-to-end HRIS software platforms. Transition from a PEO to traditional HRIS highly preferred.  Paylocity experience a plus.
  • Strong experience in best practices, HR systems, and analytics.
  • Familiarity and comfort with payroll processing.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.  Proficiency in advanced Excel functions is required.

HR Expertise

  • Strong understanding and experience working with multiple human resource disciplines, such as employee relations, compensation, compliance, benefits, leaves, organizational diagnosis, performance management, staffing, analytics, and federal/state employment laws.
  • Strong understanding of audit principles, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks related to HR.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills

  • Proven experience partnering with technical and commercial teams, understanding their unique challenges, and effectively tailoring communication and management styles to align with diverse leadership approaches and departmental needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and influencing skills, including the ability to influence leaders in remote locations.
  • Extroverted, warm, enthusiastic, empathetic, and stimulating communicator with a persuasive “selling” style and a collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with an autonomous mindset, including the ability to coach and develop team members, foster collaboration, and lead change initiatives.
