Overview: 

FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international development sector.  Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.  

 

Situated in FHI 360’s Human Resources team, HR Partners support a global staff of nearly 5,000 employees. The HR Partner Intern will have the opportunity to contribute to internship program development, policy preparation, and process realignment that would impact both our US staff and Global staff. The intern will work cross-functionally, supporting projects for the HR Partner team with regular input from other HR staff. 

 

This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.  

 

Anticipated Duration: Fall 2024 – September thru December 2024   

  

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week 

 

Pay Rate: $18.00/hour for current undergraduate interns

  • Practical experience with an international human resources team at a large, global non-profit organization 

  • Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with program management professionals 

  • Experience working with an inter-disciplinary team addressing global development challenges 

  

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details: 

 

The intern may contribute to various team or project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:   

  • Contribute to a review of an international internship process and process roll out. 

  • Contribute to the development of a process guide for employee status changes. 

  • Organize and participate in regular meetings with HR Partners, University Relations, Compensation, and other HR functions  

  • Support review of Country Office HR Global Standard page templates. 

  • Shadow members of the team to understand the regional impacts on HR work. 

  • Support efforts to review Disciplinary process, and how it relates to our Performance Improvement Plan Process.

 

 

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in International Relations, Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field of study or within one year of graduation date 

  • Demonstrated interest in human resources programs, international development, and/or program management area through studies, work experience, and/or personal travel 

  • Ability to take initiative to tackle new projects and ideas 

  • Strong writing and research skills 

  • Able to effectively communicate with stakeholders from various backgrounds 

  • Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English 

  

Typical Physical Demands: 

  • Remote office environment 

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift to 5 lbs.

  • Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail
