ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Operations Specialist to join our team as our first dedicated HR hire. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and implement the systems, policies, and processes that ensure our employees have a seamless and positive experience throughout their journey with us. You’ll wear many hats and work cross-functionally to establish and manage critical HR functions for our growing team.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a fast-growing team (50 employees and counting), we expect the responsibilities of this role to evolve over time. Here are some of the areas where you could have an immediate impact:
Employee benefits: Evaluate and manage benefits annually (medical, dental, vision, etc.), consider additional employee requests (e.g., FSA, fitness, commuter benefits), track enrollment, and address employee questions, including 401(k) inquiries.
New hire experience: Ensure a seamless onboarding process from offer signing to the first month, including ordering equipment, sending swag, coordinating onboarding trips, setting up accounts, scheduling sessions, and collecting necessary forms.
International hiring: Manage visa processes and ensure compliance for international hires.
Payroll: Ensure employees are paid on time and questions about payroll are answered.
Offboarding employees: Oversee employee exits, including severance packages, COBRA enrollment, account de-provisioning, equipment returns, final paycheck processing, and communication to the rest of the company
PTO and holidays: Define, document, and communicate company PTO and holiday policies, manage PTO requests, answer questions, and track usage to identify under- or over-utilization.
THE REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of experience in HR operations or a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment at a company of our size (50-200 employees)
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on delivering a great employee experience.
Understanding of employee benefits administration and compliance.
Experience managing onboarding and offboarding processes, with attention to detail and sensitivity.
Familiarity with visa and immigration processes for international employees.
