Group Summary 
HR Operations provides strategic operational and process improvement support to HR sub departments and workstreams. Teams within HR Operations manage the end-to-end onboarding experience for US employee and player populations, provide administrative support to our Centers of Excellence (COE), ensure compliance across HR Operations processes and manage HR records administration.  Within Process Optimization, the team identifies and executes on opportunities to streamline, eliminate redundancies and optimize processes via technology solutions.


Position Summary
The HR Operations Analyst supports all onboarding, offboarding and in season transactions for G League Players and NBA, WNBA, and G League Referees. This role supports the HR Operations Lead while working closely with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient onboarding experience. The role also serves as an operations administrator supporting process improvement initiatives and providing operations support across our Centers of Expertise. The work of this role is performed primarily in-person as it relates to engagement with internal and external stakeholders. This role travels between 0-15% of the year, depending upon priorities.


Major Responsibilities
NBA G League Player Onboarding
•    Serve as primary subject matter expert for player onboarding, offboarding and in season transactions. 
•    Oversee and maintain process documents for the Player Contract Management System (PCMS), background verifications and the Player Resources Portal.
•    Partner with key internal and external stakeholders including Legal, Employee Relations, Payroll, Benefits, G League Operations, team contacts and immigration, providing timely guidance and clarification on all matters related to player onboarding.
•    Ensure timely and accurate data entry, processing, and auditing of employee transactions.
•    Initiate, review, and adjudicate background verifications including social media checks. Escalate and resolve issues with vendor, internal stakeholders (Legal/Employee Relations) and or applicant.
•    Partner with Finance on all player payroll related matters.
•    Engage with NBA G League team contacts to provide process updates and instructions as it relates to onboarding.
•    Identify gaps and enhancements within HR Basketball Operations, moving ideas from approval to implementation and evaluation. 
•    Partner with team contacts to ensure Players are cleared from a work authorization and eligibility perspective

 

NBA, G League and WNBA Referee Onboarding
•    Facilitate Referee onboarding administration including memo and onboarding packets review and approval, background check verification administration/adjudication, driving toward results and actions to ensure completion within set timeframes
•    Administer and maintain Referee transactions within PeopleSoft.
•    Provide onsite onboarding support during Preseason Meetings.
•    Engage internal partners to identify and execute process improvements.

 

Centers of Excellence Administration
•    Provide primary or secondary COE support by processing system transactions, documenting process workflows, and implementing process improvements to drive organizational efficiency. 
•    Participate and provide subject matter expertise in various technology enhancement and process improvement projects.
•    Identify process improvement opportunities and partner with manager to execute changes.
•    Actively communicate status of work and deliverables in a timely manner and seek direction when appropriate.

 

Required Education/Professional Experience

Educational Background Required 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a concentration in Human Resources or Sports Management

 

Experience Needed
•    Minimum 3 years of experience in a Human Resources or Basketball Operations related role
•    Minimum 2 years of experience in an HR role performing HR transactions in an HRMS

•    Strong interest in understanding league structures, rules and processes.

•    Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects with a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with all levels of the organization (written and verbal).
•    Ability to work independently and follow process with attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Ability to exercise discretion with confidential information.
•    Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Visio.
•    PeopleSoft experience highly preferred.

 

Salary Range: $80,000 - $93,000
