Human Resources | Strategic InitiativesThe Human Resource Specialist (HR Business Partner, S2) serves as an operational in the Strategic Initiatives function of Human Resources in either an academic unit, business unit or medical center setting.
The Human Resources Specialist relies on a combination of prior relevant experience and oversight from the HR Business Partner and HR Consultants primarily with a focus on HR transactions and operational support to the unit, Support areas can include, but are not limited to Workday business processes, ServiceNow tickets, employee support, onboarding/offboarding checklists, reporting and basic analytics, and the talent acquisition process.
The HR Specialist in the College of Arts and Sciences works with closely with HR Business Partners, HR Consultants, Graduate School, and Centers of Expertise (COE) to provide HR support for managers and employees. Performs administrative actions both inside and outside of Workday related to employee hires and job changes; reviews job information in Workday to determine appropriate system actions; and initiates job and compensation related actions in Workday and ServiceNow, including Period Activity Pay (PAP), pay rate changes, additional pay, leaves, FTE changes, academic appointments, job requisitions, terminations, and supervisory org changes. The person in this position writes and sends HR related appointment and notification letters and assists with data collection efforts and HR administrative projects. The HR Specialist collaborates with Global Services, HR Consultants, hiring managers and employees to support visa processing. The HR Specialist maintains electronic personnel records in OnBase; researches and resolves Workday transaction questions and answers routine HR questions; participates in HR team meetings; and effectively communicates with HR team members, HR Connection, manager, and employees to provide high quality service.
Key Responsibilities
Provides HR services in partnership with the Centers of Expertise (CoE), provides day-to-day operational support for HR functions. Guides individuals to tools and resources, serves as a resident expert on Workday, initiates and approves transactions, and generates reports. Provides HR support and manages the lifecycle of employee appointments including but not limited to: regular, temporary, term positions, and student and non-employee populations.
Required Qualifications:
2 years of relevant HR experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
2-4 years of relevant HR experience.
Experience in Microsoft application Workday HRIS experience is preferred.
Strong relationship-building skills with flexibility to meet diverse customer needs.
Exceptional detail-oriented skillset; good written and verbal communication skills.
