The ideal candidate must be a driven, enthusiastic, highly organized, detail-oriented engineer ready to move to the next stage of their career. This position will play a key role in servicing our growing client base across New England while providing technical expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance and manage technical aspects on a variety of transportation and transportation related projects
- Perform detailed engineering tasks, such as the design, review/preparation of contract documents, development of construction cost estimates and specifications
- Oversee and manage multiple projects at once, providing responsive client service and strong communication, both internally and externally
- Work with multiple municipalities and agency clients
- Present project findings and represent the company at client meetings
- Work as part of our overall design team, providing technical support and collaboration with other disciplines
- Oversee and mentor younger staff
Preferred location is BETA’s Hartford office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Requirements
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field
- 5 to 10 years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices
- Fundamentals in Engineering (FE / EIT) certification
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation OpenRoads Designer
- Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, CTDOT design requirements
- Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Experience:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
