Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Health Record Clerk to join our Health Information Management team at multiple sites in Brampton, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, and supporting the efficient flow of information within our healthcare organization.

  • Manage and organize patient health records, both electronic and paper-based, across multiple sites
  • Enter patient data into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with a high degree of accuracy
  • Retrieve and compile patient information for authorized medical personnel and insurance companies
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of filing systems for efficient record retrieval
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient records
  • Perform regular audits of health records to maintain data integrity
  • Support the transition from paper-based to electronic health records as needed
  • Respond to inquiries regarding health information from patients, healthcare providers, and other authorized parties

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Health Information Technology preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in health information management or a related field
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices
  • Familiarity with privacy and security regulations, particularly HIPAA
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards

Additional Information

Currently Days including weekends (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

This is a Remote First role: Roles that can function primarily remotely but require essential, occasional onsite work

Salary: May 2024
Minimum:     $24.72 per hour
Maximum:    $26.60 per hour
