We’re looking for an experienced Head of Public Policy to join our team. This is a new role at Cleo and you will spearhead our advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts, at the forefront of developing and maintaining strategic relationships with policymakers and industry groups. You will navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, where many of our innovative products are novel not just to the industry but also to regulators. Your role will be pivotal in our lobbying and advocacy efforts to ensure that Cleo AI's interests and values are effectively represented. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for public policy, eager to make meaningful impacts in a groundbreaking sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of advocacy and lobbying strategies to support business interests and objectives, with a focus on state and federal strategy for development of EWA laws in US
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with counterparts in Fintechs, policymakers, regulators and industry groups, such as EWA trade associations 
  • Manage relationships with external lobbyists engaged by Cleo
  • Conduct thorough research on proposed laws and regulations, evaluating their potential industry impact
  • Monitor legislative developments closely and provide leadership with insights and actionable recommendations
  • Develop relevant consumer metrics internally in collaboration with teams at Cleo to support our lobbying efforts
  • Collaborate effectively with Public Relations and Communications teams to align strategies and messaging
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying laws and reporting requirements, actively tracking legislative changes

About you 

  • 5-8 years of experience as a lobbyist or in a similar role within a regulated industry, preferably financial services.
  • Proven track record in engaging with government officials and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of legislative processes and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel within the US to meet with state legislators and policymakers to advocate for EWA. Expected travel would be around once a month.
  • Experience with AI-driven products or fast-growing Fintech business environments is a nice to have.
