What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a Head of Operations Accounting who will report to the Chief Accounting Officer.  The role is responsible for CoreWeave’s financial processes and controls related to its Data Centers (DC), and will ensure compliance with US GAAP and operational accounting policies. They partner with the Operations Leadership Team to understand performance, optimize finance-related operational decisions, ensure appropriate financial/accounting rigor, introduce and enhance process discipline, and safeguard company assets. Additionally, the role will need to work closely with legal, sourcing, supply chain, finance, treasury, business development, and business operations to manage all technical and operational accounting aspects of our DC operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong manufacturing background in large complex organizations, excellent communication and partnering skills, knowledge of what good looks like at scale, and be willing to be hands-on as we continue building our DC operations. This person will have had past success in building high-performance teams and scaling up rapidly growing businesses.


Operations Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead the monthly financial close and reporting process for all Company’s DCs, which includes cost accounting, inventory of fixed assets, and proper accounting for lease liabilities
  • Ensure the Company accurately accounts for its liabilities and expenses associated with operating its DCs in compliance with all applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842) and related footnote disclosures (e.g., minimum purchase obligations), and accurately calculates related non-GAAP measures
  • Manage and update the Company’s policies around accounting operations (e.g., leases accounting, fixed asset lives, etc.)
  • Review complex vendor contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment, including partnering with corporate accounting where other accounting matters arise (e.g., VIEs or derivatives embedded in a contract)
  • During contract negotiations, provide proactive subject-matter expertise and guidance to the legal, operations, and business development teams, ensuring that accounting principles are upheld while still helping the Company meet its operational objectives (e.g., identify potential issues, and work with cross-functional partners to mitigate these issues)
  • Coordinate activities and support internal and external audits

Operations Performance Management

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, especially data center operations - bridging operations and accounting to ensure complex financial concepts are understandable for non-financial professionals, simplifying jargon, employing relatable examples, and highlighting key points to minimize expenses through cost controls
  • Enhance processes to streamline and automate accounting workflows, including contract review procedures, cost accounting procedures, etc.
  • Analyze data center build and operating costs, along with inventory levels to support operations, and timely report on identified variances and trends to support decision-making, along with identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve profitability
  • Assist the finance team in strategic financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling related to operations
  • Establish, maintain and enhance financial controls to optimize controls and performance, and providing accurate financial information to management and stakeholders
  • Assess risks and implement strategies to mitigate unnecessary risk

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop team, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Leverage development tools to facilitate training and upskilling of team members
  • Lead team performance management and appraisals as well as goal setting for team

Who You Are

  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience – an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or MS) is preferred
  • Extensive experience with contract review and interpretation, especially in the context of proper accounting for technical matters
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, particularly ASC 842
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company with SOX compliance is highly desirable
  • 12+ years of experience with a demonstrated passion for conquering challenges and bringing order from chaos
  • Strong partnership, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized yet remain flexible in a fast and dynamic work environment
  • Leadership/mentorship mentality that inspires strong attention to detail and process improvement among all staff
  • Data and process-driven with a strong analytical mindset
  • Proactive with the ability to anticipate and avoid problems before they arise

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $205,000-$240,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
