ABOUT THE ROLE 

The expectations for the role of Group Travel Specialist at GVI are: 

  • Overseeing and supporting the day-to day operations and/or activates of the Group Sales & Service 
  • Focusing on people and/or key business processes and rallying to action 
  • Understanding the big picture view of the business and the organizational impact of decisions made and changes implemented
  • Service focus (80% Service, 20% Sales) 
  • Building strong relationships with guests through the reservation process

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • Three to five years in administrative role 
  • Product planning and travel destination knowledge 
  • Knowledge of Sales processes 
  • Organized and Detail Orientated 
  • Utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and tools to manage sales activities and production. 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel 

 EXPERIENCE PREFERRED 

  • Knowledge of Siebel
  • Group travel experience
  • Strong public speaking skills and the ability to build Travel industry knowledge

RESPONSIBILITIES  

The Group Travel Specialist, Group Sales & Service is responsible for the following results: 

  • Prevent and solve customer issues in a manner that ensures the highest degree of mutual satisfaction between the customer’s needs and those of the business, including the recommendation of changing impeding processes and/or policies.
  • Survey, measure and report the follow up on client satisfaction metrics 
  • Manage and track all internal and external escalations from assigned group
  • Collaborate and build relationships with customers in all markets and assist in trouble shooting service issues
  • Build solid business relationships with) clients, internal partners (air, documents) and world-wide offices by establishing rapport and respect, provide positive and effective representation in meetings (internal and external)
  • Coordinate with Inventory department to prevent issues on group bookings, and ensure inventory availability or restriction as needed to maximize sales and margin potential
  • Implement and execute sound management practices (e.g. assigning and delegating, enabling and coaching, establishing accountabilities, and evaluating and rewarding performance against desired outcomes).
  • Ability to adapt to ongoing process improvements and the integration of new technology across the organization in order to increase Group sales and satisfaction, flexibility and reduce administrative costs.

 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT 

The Group Sales & Service department is responsible for increasing travel agent and consumer sales by integrating sales, service and establish direct to consumer and travel agent relationships. Group Sales & Service is responsible for the sales, service, relationship development, coordination, growth and responsible for identifying and targeting new distribution channel opportunities and incorporating those new channels into GVI by turning them into viable, profitable business units.
