As a Grid Protection Engineer you will be supporting the development of relay settings to protect electrical systems of projects on high-voltage substations at voltages from 12kV to 500kV with the goal of providing excellent quality work for our client.

 As an Grid Protection Engineer, you will:

  • Perform short circuit model reviews

  • Perform short circuit studies in power simulation programs such as CAPE (Gridscale X Advanced Protection Assessment), ASPEN & CYME

  • Review protection and control design packages

  • Develop & review calculation documentation to determine relay protection set points

  • Review relay logic design for accurate implementation

  • Configure settings files for microprocessor protective relays

  • Develop NERC PRC compliance documentation

  • Provide remote field support to relay test engineers during installation of relay settings

Candidates may or should have:

  • The ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to non-technical personnel

  • Basic knowledge of the electric grid

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong skills and capabilities in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel)

Basic Qualifications:

  • A completed Bachelor's degree in Engineering (graduation no later than June 2025)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel

  • Experience with developing settings for Schweitzer relays

  • Experience with computer software tools to model engineering problems, program automation systems, prepare spreadsheet-based analyses and automation

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$57,737.00 - $98,153.00
