The Office of Enrollment Management Communications at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Graphic Designer position. The target starting salary for this position is $45,000 - $48,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This is a fully remote position.
Works as a member of the Creative Marketing team in the Division of Enrollment Management (EM). Creates unique and innovative visual assets and designs for various collateral including print, digital, and multimedia platforms working within the established brand guidelines. Oversees the production of printed materials alongside the Creative team, working with on-campus and off-campus vendors. Assists in vendor relationships to obtain cost estimates for projects within quality specifications, financial constraints, and schedule for projects along with promotional item strategy. Continuously performs assessments of projects and determines if changes are needed to meet the desired outcome and timeline.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree must be obtained by the date of hire; current students nearing graduation are encouraged to apply.
• 1 year of experience related to duties and responsibilities; student employment, student volunteer work, or internship experience related to job duties will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience and expertise with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design program(s).
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree
• Successful experience working under tight deadlines.
• Experience with Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work within established brand guidelines
• Working knowledge and understanding of MAC operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Working knowledge of best practices in print and digital communication
• Possess strong self-discipline and motivation
• Proven written and verbal communication skills
• Must have the ability to learn, be flexible to change, and be innovative
• Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at various levels with a variety of backgrounds
• Ability to lead and manage projects with varying degrees of complexity and involvement, prioritizing tasks appropriately
• Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Possess strong self-discipline and motivation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to exercise good judgment and handle diverse and difficult situations with confidence, motivation, and flexibility

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• This position will work on creative that is applied across various channels, experience working deeply in one of these categories or some basic knowledge across all three would be beneficial:
o Knowledge of print processes and techniques
o Knowledge of digital design principles and techniques (responsive layouts, basic CSS, fundamentals of good UX/UI)
o Knowledge of video and photography production (including shooting, editing, retouching)
• Knowledge of university style and communications standards
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, Lightroom)
• Sound knowledge of and experience with Slate CRM system and Asana project management system
• Understanding of higher education priorities, processes, and workflow
• Experience with project management and data reporting systems

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations.
