The Grants and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for managing the credit union’s philanthropic initiatives, including overseeing grant processes, identifying funding opportunities, and developing strategies for community support through charitable giving. This role involves building strong relationships with nonprofit organizations, coordinating internal efforts to allocate funds effectively, and ensuring the credit union’s grants and philanthropy programs align with its mission to support community development, financial literacy, and social impact.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the execution of the credit union’s grantmaking program, including administering and managing a diverse portfolio of grants for community programs, nonprofits, and local initiatives.
  • Identify and research new grant opportunities, including federal, state, and private funding sources, to support the credit union’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Write and submit grant proposals, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of funding organizations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop compelling, data-driven proposals that align with community needs.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements, including tracking grant expenditures, providing timely reporting, and ensuring grantees meet agreed-upon outcomes and deliverables.
  • Develop and implement systems to assess the effectiveness of grants and philanthropic initiatives. Track and report on the impact of funded programs to ensure alignment with the credit union’s objectives and community needs.
  • Develop and implement the credit union’s philanthropic strategy, identifying key community areas of need and aligning the credit union’s charitable efforts with these priorities.
  • Coordinate employee volunteer programs, foster a culture of giving back by encouraging staff participation in community service initiatives, nonprofit partnerships, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with local nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to enhance the credit union’s visibility and strengthen its community impact. Ensure the credit union is recognized as a leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, including individual members, organizations, and corporate partners, to expand and enhance the credit union’s philanthropic footprint.
  • Manage fundraising campaigns and initiatives, coordinating both internal and external efforts to raise funds for strategic programs, scholarships, and grants.
  • Oversee the budgeting process for grants and philanthropic initiatives, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximize the impact of charitable giving.
  • Work with senior leadership to ensure that philanthropic efforts align with the overall organizational budget and strategy. Ensure funds are distributed efficiently and responsibly across programs and causes.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align the credit union’s philanthropic activities with its overall mission, business objectives, and member engagement strategies.
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress, outcomes, and impact of grants and philanthropic activities. Communicate results to senior leadership and board members.
  • Act as a representative of the credit union in community and philanthropic circles, helping to raise awareness of its charitable contributions and community impact.
  • Develop promotional content, such as press releases, newsletters, and social media posts, to highlight the credit union’s grants, sponsorships, and philanthropic efforts.
  • Effectively adjusts to changing and evolving priorities and expectations.
  • Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Impact, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Six (6)+ years of experience in grants management, philanthropy, or nonprofit sector roles.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing grants and building community relationships.
  • Experience with fundraising, sponsorships, and corporate giving programs.
  • Knowledge of grantmaking foundations, government funding programs, and nonprofit financial management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to write compelling grant proposals and reports, and effectively engage stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and track progress across multiple initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building and maintaining relationships with nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and potential donors.
  • Ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and use insights to make strategic decisions about philanthropic investments.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing grant compliance and ensuring the accuracy of reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFRE - Certified Fund Raising Executive).
  • Experience working within the credit union or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with local community needs and opportunities for social impact.
  • Passion for social responsibility, community development, and financial inclusion.
  • A proactive and results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering impact.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid role with work performed remotely as well as in an office and/or branch environment in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State.
  • Occasional travel required for community visits, nonprofit site tours, and partnership meetings.
  • Team members may attend special off-hour meetings, seminars, and grant deadlines.
