Graduate Education Evaluation Intern

ICF's Youth and Adult Education portfolio is currently seeking a Graduate Education Evaluation Intern. Interns are involved in development of data collection instruments, survey administration, interviews and focus groups, data synthesis and analysis, writing reports, literature reviews, data visualization, and other tasks as required. This position will contribute to a project to support a new college and career readiness evaluation and a Teacher Professional Learning Initiative in Virginia. 

The position is part-time (approximately 40% of a full-time equivalency or 16 hours per week on average) and fully remote. The Intern should commit to the position for the equivalent of two semesters or one academic year. Pay is $25 per hour.

As an Intern, you will:

  • Conduct one-on-one interviews and focus groups. 
  • Focus on advancing culturally responsive evaluation data collection strategies.
  • Conduct occasional virtual and/or in-person visits.
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Support survey administration and analysis.
  • Create simple data visualizations and support staff use of data.
  • Develop literature reviews.
  • Produce reports and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Attend some on-site meetings in Virginia.
  • Assume an active role on project teams and quickly gain responsibility for improving culturally responsive approaches.
  • Manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Have exposure to and maintain positive relationships with clients.

As an Intern, you will have:

  • Strong interest in transformative approaches to evaluation across topics such as K-12 education, postsecondary education/training, rural education, educational equity, and education research and/or program evaluation.
  • Appreciation for understanding cultural contexts
  • Familiarity with or interest in learning about survey research and qualitative research, including software supporting survey and qualitative analyses and visualization (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Dedoose).
  • A willingness to travel occasionally for on-site meetings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • The ability to take initiative and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graduate program (master’s or doctoral level) in Education, Social Science, Evaluation, Public Policy, or related discipline.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$47,717.00 - $81,118.00
