JOB SUMMARY
As the Government Relations Coordinator, you will support the Government Relations team in a variety of capacities including: policy research and analysis, state and federal legislative and regulatory tracking, supporting any government relations events or meetings, and assisting with grassroots advocacy and communication. The Government Relations Coordinator will work in a collaborative environment, working closely with the Development team, Operations team, and the Communications team in carrying out these duties. The role will engage in all US jurisdictions with an emphasis on jurisdictions in the West and North West portion of the United States. The ideal candidate will have experience in: working within state and federal government, policy and rulemaking, and general civic engagement. This position will have a high level of self-motivation and a curiosity and interest in health care policy. This is a full time, remote option opportunity reporting directly to the Director of Government Relations.
JOB DUTIES
- Perform policy research on key areas of CDCN interest, including home and community-based services (HCBS), Medicaid Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS), Medicaid, Medicare, Labor Relations, and general health care policy.
- Draft government relations written products – congressional or state updates, hearing digests, event memos, and action alerts.
- Track Legislative bills during Legislative Session and any Special Sessions and compile reports on related bills of interest.
- Interface with internal and/or external partners at the state and federal level including collecting, collating, furnishing and exchanging information.
- During Session cycle, organize weekly Legislative team meetings with consultants, compile agenda, and send out action items for the week.
- During Session cycle, prepare weekly bill reports and updates, liaise with state teams on items of interest / research, organize weekly GR, Operations and Executive team meetings as needed and send out notes and action items for the week.
- Support the creation and execution of grassroots advocacy tools including through the use of communication platforms and social media.
- Work with other administrative staff, both internally and externally, to execute GR team meetings and logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus two or more years of professional work history
- Two or more years of experience working in state or federal government or grassroots advocacy role
- Understanding of state and federal government relations activities
- Strong research and communication skills
- Work style exhibiting a high level of discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines while performing in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- An understanding of the complexities surrounding collaboration in a national matrix organization

- This is a remote opening and the employee must provide their own reliable Internet service
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
