Marsh McLennan (the “Company”) has a truly compelling career opportunity for a privacy lawyer to join a global Fortune 200 stalwart Company as Global Senior Privacy Counsel, reporting to our Global Chief Privacy Officer.

Data is fundamental to our client services at Marsh McLennan. We pride ourselves on being responsible stewards of the large volumes of global data we are entrusted with, and in our thoughtful design of innovative offerings to help clients manage risks. We are looking for a forward-thinking and collaborative lawyer to join our small but mature global privacy Center of Excellence (COE).

In this role you will have the opportunity to lead impactful privacy initiatives with great visibility across the various businesses and functions.

We will count on you to:

  • Coordinate with regional DPOs and subject matter experts to articulate and maximize consistent application of privacy principles across regions, including by maintaining centralized templates, standards, and policy documentation
  • Serve as the privacy team’s lead liaison to business and corporate teams looking to efficiently scale compliant initiatives globally or across regions
  • Maintain global privacy awareness efforts and work with the privacy project manager to streamline the privacy program to avoid duplication of effort across regions
  • Be a subject matter expert on privacy requirements impacting data, digital products, and websites (including cookies and other online tracking technologies)
  • Advise on privacy implications of business growth, including in relation to acquisitions and divestitures
  • Advise on privacy and artificial intelligence (AI) risk assessments for new products, vendors, and tools
  • Work closely with other parts of the Privacy COE, the People function, Global Sourcing & Procurement and the broader Legal and Compliance teams on privacy matters

What you need to have: 

  • BA/BS degree / JD degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a corporate environment or law firm
  • Deep knowledge of global data protection laws and the ability to navigate these demands in the context of global contracts and projects
  • Experience drafting and negotiating privacy and security clauses in global commercial contracts
  • Experience dealing with privacy risk assessments

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $144,300 to $288,400.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
