Global Patient Support Intern

This is a remote, home-based internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.

The summer intern working with the Global Patient Support team will help develop 1-3 practical tools that will help us to support our BEACON Initiative global patient navigation community of practice made up of representations from organizations and hospitals in more than 20 countries around the world. The summer intern will also have the opportunity to learn about the field of global cancer control and gain exposure to the work of other teams in the department.  

 

Major Responsibilities:  

  • Develop a dynamic, easy-to-use BEACON Community member organization database that allows members to learn about other organizations in the community to promote peer-to-peer learning and exchange.

  • Review our content library of past webinar recordings (approx. 40 events) to create an easy-to-use directory of the content to facilitate ongoing member access and learning. 

  • While reviewing content library, capture and document kudos, stories, and other anecdotes for development of awareness-raising and fundraising communications materials. 

  • Time and skills permitting, help create one or more communications pieces about the benefits or impact of the BEACON Initiative. 

Knowledge/Skills Required:

    • Demonstration of interest or prior study in global health, global affairs, international development or another global career area.

    • Excellent organizational skills, including a strong attention to detail, and the ability to carry work projects through to their natural conclusion.

    • Proactive attitude, and team spirit and approach to work.

    Preferred:

      • Experience in developing communications materials. 

      • Strong capacity with MS Office products and creative tools like Canva. 

      • Ability to communicate across cultures and in different environments. 

      Position Requirements:

      • Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.

      • Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.

      • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);

      • Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester;

      • Upload a resume upon application submission.

      • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.

      The rate for this position is $20/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
