Who we are
The Online Progressive Engagement Network (OPEN) is a global not-for-profit organization that supports independent digital campaigning groups in 17 countries to share knowledge, build connections across borders, and run collaborative campaigns on a range of issues, all in order to win progressive change.
OPEN’s staff is made up of a small international team of campaigners, technologists and support staff. We work to support a Network of 17 digital campaigning organizations, each an independent, non-profit, nationally-based organization working on multiple issues, but all sharing a common set of values and a general strategic orientation. Groups in the network tend to work on climate change, human rights, gender and racial justice, economic fairness, strengthening democracy, and empowering individual people to lift their voices to make change in their community and their country.

Purpose of the Position
OPEN is looking for an experienced bilingual digital campaigner who can oversee the expansion of the OPEN Network into new countries with a specific focus on Latin America, and provide close support and guidance for new organizations, helping them become self-sustaining full members of the OPEN Network.
As the Campaign Specialist, you will drive a key part of OPEN programming, providing expert campaign advice, fostering connections among OPEN groups and promoting international collaboration and innovation. Most importantly, you will help spread the successful OPEN model to more countries around the world. This role will work with groups throughout North America and South America with OPEN member groups such as Nossas (Brazil), MoveOn (USA), Accionar (Mexico) El Avispero (Colombia), Vamos PR (Puerto Rico) and LeadNow (Canada).
Key Responsibilities
- Be a coach, consultant, and trainer for OPEN groups on their digital and campaigning strategies, both in-person and online.
- Act as Liaison and focal point for 4-6 OPEN Groups, developing strong relationships and a deep understanding of each country’s political climate.
- Support the expansion of the OPEN Network to new countries, specifically in Latin America.
- Scout and evaluate existing organizations to assess their fit for the OPEN Network.
- Develop relationships with digital organizers and activists in Latin America who could help start up or lead new OPEN Groups.
- Design and develop training, skillshares & workshops to build Network staff skills, knowledge and expertise.
- Organize regional and global in-person summits for campaigners to connect and develop skills.
- Support the Executive Director to fundraise for the growth & startup program.
Requirements and competences to work with us
Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive familiarity with Latin American political dynamics and movements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. (familiarity with Portuguese also a plus)
- Experience in digital campaigning for progressive digital organizations or election campaigns
- Familiarity with digital campaigning methods and tactics, including how to leverage email, social media, and other tools to mobilize activists and voters.
- Experience using digital tools to mobilise people for in person rallies, meetings, and protests.
- Demonstrated ability to support campaigners and organizers to excel in their own work.
- Ability to rapidly identify emerging strategic opportunities for mass civic engagement to create change.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment while actively engaging with the team through digital communication to build strong connections.
- Excellent project management skills.

Compensation
Final compensation for this position will be determined based on location, cost of living, and cost of employment in your region/country, based on OPEN’s current compensation framework. This position will be fully remote, but strong preference will be given to candidates based in Latin American countries.
