Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

This position will work with UND faculty and staff to develop game design documents for Native Dancer and other relevant 3D interactive environments, to include Virtual Reality applications, and perform various activities as necessary to further the development of such environments and applications.


This student position is for 10 hours per week during summer and up to 20 hours during the academic year. (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025) This position is REMOTE for the summer and In-person only for the academic year.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with UND faculty and staff to develop game design documents for 3D/VR interactive environments.
    • Review play activities of existing video game titles and research associated game design concepts.
    • Consult with faculty and staff on the goals of the environment and the technology available to implement design visions.
    • Consult with faculty and staff on the game design process.
    • Formulate interactivity designs and write design documents describing how designs are to be implemented.
  • Provide additional services to further the development of 3D/VR interactive environments.
    • Perform acting roles while wearing, and being recorded by, motion capture equipment.
    • Learn and use game design, game programming, and game content development software.
    • Manage project activities as directed by ACI Manager. 

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and implement new technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss work output in public settings.
  • Ability to travel up to 1 week annually.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completed two or more years of undergraduate college program majoring in English or a related humanities degree program.
  • Must be an undergraduate student for Fall 2024 semester and Spring 2025 semester.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of powwow dance styles.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
