UMass Global's full-time faculty's responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and service. Research activities are supported but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired as Assistant Professor; however, a higher rank may be considered if appropriate. UMass Global offers competitive salaries with generous benefits.      

About our Programs

The Psychology Program comprises 12 full-time faculty members and 88 adjunct faculty supporting three graduate and five undergraduate programs. Graduate programs include the Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling, the Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Master of Arts in Professional Clinical Counseling. Undergraduate programs include the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Child Psychology Concentration, Industrial/Organizational Concentration, Preparation for Advanced Study in Counseling, and Preparation for Advanced Study in Psychology.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy, Ph.D. in Psychology, Psy.D., or DMFT
  • Current MFT license
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor status
  • Experience in online instruction
  • Experience in management of programs of significant scope and complexity

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Prior experience in collaborating with stakeholders in community-based employer organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-traditional students.
  • Experience with student placements in an online setting.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to address intersectionality theory in the classroom, particularly with power, privilege, and oppression issues.
  • Strong clinical experience in mental health settings.
  • Effective record of innovation integrating curriculum and practice with appropriate technologies.
  • Knowledge of UMass Global policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

This non-tenure, 10-month faculty position includes an additional 2-month Academic Appointment as the Assistant Fieldwork Director for the Clinical Psychology Program, overseeing curricular administration. This extends the appointment to a full 12-month position.

Salary:

Various factors, including experience, education, and internal equity, determine the salary range for this position. The posted Typical Starting UMass Global Academic salary range establishes the minimum pay based on rank at the time of appointment. This ensures that all compensation decisions align with competitive market conditions and the individual's qualifications, promoting fairness and equity within the organization.

Typical Starting UMass Global Academic salary range:

  • Assistant Professor: $79,000 - $81,400
  • Associate Professor: $91,000 - $93,800
  • Professor: $105,000 - $108,200

California State Law requires postings to include the full salary range:

  • Assistant Professor: $79,000 - $91,000
  • Associate Professor: $91,000 - $105,000
  • Professor: $105,000 - $121,000

New hires and current faculty are subject to the full salary range for their respective rank. New hires are typically hired within the Typical Starting Academic salary range.
