Position Description

SubjectToClimate is seeking a skilled and collaborative Part-time (10-20hrs./wk) Product Developer/(Full-Stack Web Developer) to join our Product Development team. This role involves close collaboration with the Product Development team, including weekly meetings, monthly department syncs, and regular communication with our Chief Product Officer, Product Manager, and other team members. The role involves responding to bug reports, building out new parts of the site, monitoring site performance, and implementing technical SEO best practices.  Proficiency in programs such as Laravel Forge, Algolia, Digital Ocean, Vuejs, tailwindcss, or comparable programs is preferred. This developer will maintain thorough documentation, mentor new team members, and contribute to ongoing training initiatives. The ideal candidate will be adept at time management, communicate effectively, and stay current with industry standards and best practices in web development and technical SEO.


 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain robust back-end functionality for web applications, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

  • Build and optimize front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create user-friendly, responsive designs.

  • Maintain and update technical documentation to reflect current development processes and system architectures.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers and interns, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • Optimize website performance and implement technical SEO best practices to ensure high site performance and visibility.

  • Manage website deployment and hosting platforms, with a focus on tools like Laravel Forge and Digital Ocean.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product features and address technical challenges effectively.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues proactively, ensuring system reliability and performance.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Passion and commitment to our mission and values 

  • Experience Level: Mid-level (2-4 years of relevant experience preferred).

  • Education Level: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in both front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end development (PHP, Laravel or similar frameworks).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar industry or mission-driven organization.

  • Experience working with non-profit or social impact organizations.

  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Jira, or Trello.

  • Exceptional communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to diagnose and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
