Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Full Stack Platform Developer with a strong background in quality-assurance and testing to join our Cloud Platform team supporting the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

In this role you will work alongside talented full stack and infrastructure developers and engineers as part of an Agile platform team streamlining software delivery and application hosting using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Your primary focus will be on the improvement of automated testing for all layers of our platform stack while assisting with the continual improvement and development of our internal developer platform. You will be expected to take charge, implement robust testing components, and share knowledge and direction for our internal development practices.

HOW A FULL STACK PLATFORM DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:​

  • Develop and articulate a clear direction for the improvement of our software, integration, and API testing capabilities
  • Implement an assortment of robust quality assurance and testing processes and practices across our platform application layer
  • Work closely with other platform developers and engineers to understand challenges in order to implement incremental solutions to our development process and incorporate proven testing strategies
  • Collect, report on, and provide observability over quality assurance and testing metrics
  • Assist in the collaborative design of platform application layer features and end user features
  • Develop front and back-end solutions using microservices in NodeJS hosted in AWS Elastic Container Services (ECS)
  • Consume a variety of SQL and No-SQL database management systems including document, key-value, and time series data
  • Produce and consume data in lightweight data-interchange formats such as JSON and XML
  • Maintain code integrity and organization
  • Assist in the regular remediation of security and dependency update alerts
  • Work with product owners and other development team members to determine new features and user stories needed in new/revised applications or large/complex development projects
  • Take tasks from requirements to deployment
  • Respond to trouble/support issues anywhere in the stack
  • Create and update documentation
  • Participate in all team planning, product demonstration and team retrospectives

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
  • Required Experience: Minimum of eight years related experience
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Strong quality assurance and testing experience
    • Strong experience reading, writing, and debugging TypeScript
    • Strong understanding of AWS Infrastructure Services, in particular ECS, SQS, Lambda, and EventBridge
    • Strong experience consuming cloud APIs
    • Good experience utilizing AWS JavaScript SDK, Node.js, JSON, and XML
    • Good experience with CI/CD, Git/GitHub, and artifact management
    • Working knowledge using datastores, including MongoDB, SQL Server, AWS SSM Parameter Store, and S3
    • Working knowledge of Microservices, distributed, and event driven systems/architectures
    • Experience with Agile development methodology and/or Scrum
    • Experience reading and utilizing infrastructure as code using Terraform
  • Required Abilities
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders
    • Strong understanding of how to apply quality assurance and testing within a platform/product team
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience implementing the Moleculer JS microservice framework
    • Experience reading, writing, and troubleshooting Terraform infrastructure as code
    • Experience building and supporting Platform as a Service (PaaS) systems
    • Experience implementing integrated solutions with Microservices, RESTful Web Services and HTTP APIs
    • Experience reading, writing, and troubleshooting a variety of programming and scripting languages, such as Python, Ruby, or TCL
    • Experience with various database, data integration, and visualization applications, such as MongoDB Atlas Charts and Grafana
    • Experience using and working within the SumoLogic platform
    • Experience using and working with Docker

The likely salary range for this position is $122,366 - $159,850. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
