Job Description:

The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks a Full Stack Developer.

Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Provide operations and maintenance support for applications, including tech stack lifecycle updates, security vulnerability remediation, minor updates and enhancements.
  • Provide support to federal development resources, assist with organizing and prioritizing work with product owners. Find ways to improve maintainability and sustainability.
  • Participate in a scrum team to address backlog of production issues, bugs, and feature enhancement requests.
  • Perform and lead the detailed technical design, coding, code review and testing of new features for an enterprise application.
  • Design and develop Vehicle Deficiency Report (VDR) application front-end, back-end, and security.
  • Provide expertise in application design to maximize performance including refactoring code and identifying simplifications to the design of the applications that could lead to reduced maintenance.
  • Support creation technical documentation (wiki) for maintenance of applications
  • Use Agency approved and specified GitHub repository to store source code, document code, release packages, and associated artifacts
  • Write clean and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards
  • Support new projects and tasks for software development projects as requested by the government

Required Skills

  • At least 7 years of strong hands-on software development experience
  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript and Typescript
  • 5+ years of experience with Angular
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with Node.js and its core principles
  • Ability to read/write SQL queries
  • Strong experience with full stack development, including understanding UI frameworks and back-end architecture
  • Experience with agile development
  • Familiar with Git and GitHub (branching, merging, code review, pull request, etc.)
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including reading comprehension, writing correspondences, leading meetings with customers, and providing demos
  • Experience with SQL Server and migrating data into SQL Server

    Education and Experience:
  • 7+ years of development experience
  • Bachelor of Science in IT, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

Travel Requirement:

  • Rare/unlikely

Salary:

  • $125k-$140k The salary range offered is an estimate made in good faith, intended to encompass various experience levels.
